FAQ

What is included?
Insurance tiers, recovery kit, rooftop tent (optional), fridge and spares depending on vehicle.
Do you offer roadside support?
Yes — 24/7 remote support + local recovery assistance options.
Is it safe to rent a self-drive car in Tanzania or Kenya?
Yes. Both countries are considered safe for self-drive safaris. Safari Masters provides full support, route briefings, and emergency assistance.
Do I need a 4×4 car for a safari?
Yes. A 4×4 vehicle is strongly recommended (and often required) due to rough terrain and unpaved roads.
Do I need an international driving license?
A valid driver’s license from your home country is required. An International Driving Permit (IDP) is recommended but not always mandatory.
How old must I be to rent a car?
You must be at least 23 years old and have held a driver’s license for at least 2 years.
What happens in case of breakdowns or emergencies?
Safari Masters provides 24/7 roadside assistance, replacement vehicles if needed, and full support via phone/WhatsApp.
Are the cars insured?
Yes. All vehicles are fully insured, including comprehensive coverage, with details explained in the rental agreement.
Can I cross borders with the rental car?
Yes. You can drive across borders (e.g., Tanzania to Kenya), but this must be arranged in advance for insurance and paperwork.
Is fuel included in the rental?
No. Cars are supplied with a full tank and must be returned with a full tank.
Can I drive in the Maasai Mara?
No. Self-driving is not permitted in the Maasai Mara. Game drives must be arranged with camps/lodges and conducted by their guides.
What is the best time for a safari?
The dry season (June – October) is best for wildlife viewing and road conditions. The wet season offers lush scenery and fewer crowds, but some roads may be difficult.
